Revitalizing Indigenous Wisdom for a
Livable Future
Indigenous cultures carry magnificent wisdom about how to cultivate Earth’s resources for us and the incoming generations. They ensured we have resources to enjoy to this very day. To pay homage to their legacy, I aim to help revitalize their wisdom and practices so we can learn from their ways as we pave our path to a livable future.
Having roots in the Philippines, my journey would entail visiting various indigenous communities to learn their wisdom, practices, and traditions. Specifically, my clan roots are connected to the Tagalog community. Tagalog is a merging of two words "taga" and "ilog" which means "from the river." Extending my roots, I aim to explore other indigenous communities around the world.

As someone who grew up in the Philippines that was heavily influenced by the Western and Spanish culture, I was often exposed to Western/Hispanized education and media. Although the core and pride of our culture are still intact within many of us, the full knowing and expression of its essence and beauty is lacking, especially the relationship with our land that leads to the degradation of our environment.
In my journey to advocate for a livable future for the next seven generations globally, this project will help nourish the movement of positive action through learning from the legacies of our ancestors. It will inspire collective healing and homecoming around the world and with our Mother Earth.
